Welcome to the Year 2000 section of the Kratos web site

The information presented here is intended to help smooth the transition into the next century for our customers world wide.

Kratos maintains an ongoing watch over its information and data processing systems with special attention to their representation and manipulation of calendar dates. These notes provide the latest information on "Year 2000 Compliance" status and possible upgrade paths for particular product line systems.

"Compliance" throughout these pages is generally defined in the same way as the British Standards Institution's (BSI) DISC PD-2000-1 "A Definition of Year 2000 Conformity Requirements".

In brief this requires that:

  • Neither performance nor functionality is affected by dates prior to, during and after the year 2000.
  • No value for the current date will cause any undesired interruption of operation during a product's expected lifecycle.
  • Date-based functionality behaves consistently for dates prior to, during and after year 2000.
  • In all interfaces and data storage, the century in any date is specified either explicitly or by unambiguous algorithms or inference rules.
  • Year 2000 is recognized as a leap year.

Please take a moment to review our general comments and observations.

Please Note that Applied Biosystems (who manufacture a widely used range of chromatographic detectors) have been for some years now a Division of the Perkin Elmer Corporation

It is suggested that you seek Year 2000 compliance information for these (ABI) systems directly, by telephoning PE Biosystems on (+1) 650 570 6667
