Live spectra through our web pages!
- The KRATOS "Polymer Handbook" first published in 1992 with AXIS HS data, and re-issued for AVS '97 increased in scope and based on higher performance AXIS 165 determinations, has become the standard by which all polymer XPS spectra are judged. The handbook proved so popular that we prepared an electronic version, still available elswhere on this site. This is an Adobe "Acrobat" PDF (Portable Document Format) file to provide maximum "portability" and utility - the document is fully searchable and printable on all major computer platforms from the SUNs of VISION systems to regular PCs and Macs - and maintains the useful "landscape" page layout for detailed spectrum display.
Now, in response to continued requests for this information, and to make these highly regarded examples of AXIS 165 spectra even more available for reference and study throughout the world, we've taken the unprecedented step of providing a representative selection of the polymers (eight to be exact) here in our web site as complete spectra in ISO -14976 format.
- Availability of a simple Java Applet for display of ISO-14976 spectra means that now you have spectra in your web browser that can be manipulated and measured on screen, including unlimited x and y expansion, and examined in detail for your reference. The eight page Handbook preview (a version "2.1" pdf file - 170kB approx., no password needed and freely available for on screen use) is still useful alongside the applet, showing examples of VISION printout from some of the ISO format spectra and a VISION peak fit for one of the regions. The full Acrobat 3.0 version Handbook provides greater detail and output from all the ISO format examples: it is of course still available here (about 450kB) and has extended indexing, search, and print facilities. Its twenty eight pages contain 45 spectra from 15 materials, including wide scans, core levels, and valence bands with detailed peak fits, notes, comments, and references, to provide a substantial reference set as well as an indication of the the superb resolution, sensitivity, and charge balance capability of AXIS 165.
Once you've downloaded the larger "Acrobat" file, you will need a password to access the data - contact Dave for yours.
If you´re not familiar with the "Acrobat" style or haven´t got an Acrobat reader or browser "plug-in" on your system, the modules are freely available from the Adobe site and many other sources.
BEFORE YOU PROCEED TO THE SPECTRA!
- Remember you need a "Java enabled" browser (most are - check if you're not sure)
- Remember that although freely available for personal use,
these spectra are still Kratos copyright!
